Giant strides of the Lutheran Women Fellowship
The Lutheran Women
Fellowship is one subgroup that has shown a lot of commitment in the area of
outreach and evangelism in the LCCN. The serving EXCO who incidentally have
been the recent past have demonstrated leadership and focus in the areas of
women development, church planting, growth and evangelism. The National Women
Leader, Mrs. Mary Solomon told the Lutheran
Today that they are thinking everyday on how to bring growth and
development to LCCN. “We have projects we are embarking on and we are thinking
everyday on how to improve on what we have done. We have advanced the building
of the Women Center at the Headquarters in Numan to decking level, the ground
floor is a hall and some offices while the first floor we are building about
eight rooms that would be fully air conditioned as our Guest House. We are sure
this will support our ministry as women.” She said as a result of their visit
to Abuja Diocese last year they embarked on a Church construction project that
have been completed and commissioned by the Bishop of Abuja Diocese.
She also said, “The
women fellowship is sponsoring 10 evangelists in various places. We believe in
reaching out to the unreached and since we cannot go by ourselves all we have
decided to sponsor these evangelists to do what our heart desire to do; that is
preaching the gospel.
The Lutheran Women
Fellowship in their bid to support the rural women is seeking ways to empower
them through skill acquisition and capacity building. During their recent
outreach to Garba Chede in Taraba state the LCCN women distributed clothes,
food items, detergent, foot wares and other items worth over N300,000.00. The Secretary
of the organization Mrs. Mary Cletus said they have over the years visited many
rural areas and planning to do more in the near future. She called on
well-meaning individuals to continue to support the effort of the women at all
levels.
The LCCN women already
had bought a utility van to complement their Bus in the areas of transport and
logistics during their annual programs and other special outings.
They arrived at Garba
Chede on 24th of September, the following day they were joined by women
from the TEKAN Churches. The TEKAN women fellowship under the leadership Mrs.
Kubli David arrived at Bali town in Taraba State on the 25th and was
hosted in a fellowship by the LCCN women. During the evening fellowship the
women were admonished to be faithful servants of God and also to prepare their
minds for the mission.
On the next day they
were divided in to two groups and they went different ways into the rural areas
around Bali Local government area. At the Village of Garbabi along Sarti road one
of the women groups visited a Lutheran Church in the community and were
received by the members of the Church. At the church Evangelist John Damboyi
spoke to the members and charged them to “be deeply rooted in faith” so that
they may encourage other to accept the gospel. He told them that it is their
life in Christ that will guarantee the success of the gospel in the area. Mrs. Kubli
David while addressing the members of the congregation said they should endeavor
to pursue peace with one another and ensure that they did not hinder the
gospel. She particularly charged the husbands and wives to live in love and
understanding with one another. Rev E.C. Voma the Lutheran Subgroups Director
was engaged in a questions and answers session which dwelled basically on
tithing, he charged the church to make effort to remit the one tenth of all
their earning and farm produce as this is the only insurance they could have.
The group proceeded to
another village and then to another. Gift items including clothes, soap,
detergents, foot ware and salt among others were presented to the people. The
two groups returned in the evening to share their testimonies.
Meanwhile the LCCN
women visited other villages around Garba Chede. After the first visit Rev.
Bunduku told the Lutheran Today that the outing was very encouraging as many
were witnessed to and a lot of them showed their commitment and rededication to
following Christ, “We saw them hear the message keenly and have demonstrated
willingness to be on fire for God.” Rev Bunduku told the Lutheran Today that
there is a village where women alone accepted the gospel and they strived to
raise a structure as place of worship for three times after working in the day,
in the night the men would come and pull it down. But the women persisted and
have succeeded in setting up a church in the village. He said, “Such people
need our support and prayers so that they will not be discouraged.”
The TEKAN women on the
second day went out again to encourage brethren. At Kurmin Goro a village off
Maihula was visited. At the village the Women Fellowship were received by the
Christian community and the Village Head as well as his council. Rev E.C. Voma
preached to the gathering and cautioned them on the dangers of the end time.
After the preaching Evangelist John Danboyi made an Alter called and large
number of people rededicated their lives and the village head as well as his
council members express publicly their believe in the salvation power of Jesus
Christ.
The LCCN women had
earlier visited a community near Garba Chede. At the village the chief Priest
of the idol worshipers was prayed for and group of young men came to church and
showed their willingness to accept Christ. The group prayed for a sick man who
never believed in Jesus Christ and was led to Christ. The man accepted that he
will follow Jesus, he said, “even not for anything the kind of love and concern
you have shown to me is an indication that you are serving a living God whom I
will like to follow.” He was asked to confess his sins and accept the free gift
of God through Jesus Christ and he did.
At the end of the
outreach women returned home with joy. The representative of the Leader of
women in LCCN Taraba Diocese told the Lutheran
Today that Taraba Diocese will always remain grateful to God for the chance
to lead women into doing what Christ himself mandated the Church to do. She
thanked the leaders of the Fellowship for choosing to visit Taraba Diocese; she
also prayed that the planting that the lord had enabled the women to do will be
watered by God himself.
