How 9 widows built a gigantic Church
During the recently
concluded outreach of the Lutheran Women Fellowship (Zumuntan Mata) in Garba
Chede Taraba State, the women were shocked and surprised by the fiat of some nine
widows and four married men with children. A rural settlement called Mel-Uku
(Mile 3) is east of Garba Chede is the community where these devoted Christian
widows live. They told our reporter that they believed that the more they do
the work of God the better their lives will become.
They are basically
farmers in the area, so at the of end each farming season they dedicate some of
their proceed from the farm to the building of their place of worship and doing
the work of God in the area. “This people have shown that with God nothing is
impossible, I imagine how we in the towns and cities will organize series of
fund raising to be able to build a church just like this one. They are not
government workers or business people as we presume the wealthy in the cities,
but they have committed hearts to this ministry and have done it. I feel
ashamed of myself because I am challenged.” Said Brother Mark who followed the
women to the field.
This farming season is
ending and the people of Mile3 have gotten the estimate of roofing their church
therefore has shared the money among themselves to raise by the end of the
year. The 9 widows will bring 300,000 naira and the four married men have taken
upon themselves to provide 300,000 naira. If all these monies are collected
they will realize 600,000.00 naira and it will be enough to roof their church.
The few members will
then be thinking of how to get pews and other furniture in the church. The
women fellowship promised to keep in touch with the church and find ways to support
them. They called on everyone who wishes to join them in the work can contact
them anytime.
