Lutheran Choir Convention 2016

Lutheran Choir Convention 2016
The Lutheran Choir organization held her annual National convention at the LCCN cathedral, Yola on the 5th to 8th March, 2016. The convention was adjud
ged to be one of the best despite the economy challenges in the country. The convention theme was “Who can separate us from the love of Christ” taken from Romans 8:35. while Rt. Rev. Amos Yakubu was the Guest Speaker.
This year’s convention brought in some varieties. The LCO introduced Bible Studies as part of the convention programme and songs ministrations were highly professional and inspiring.
Delivering his talk at the convention the Guest Speaker Rt. Rev. Amos Yakubu said that the love of God is immeasurable for mankind. He stated, “We cannot count the love of God for us all, there is no how we can even pay him or do a thing in exchange for the love of God, but what God wants us to do is to take a stand for him and never allow the circumstances around us break us away from him.” The Guest Speaker charged the church to remain in the love of God and should always make its position in Christ known.
Visiting at the convection was the Archbishop of the Church, Most Rev Dr. Nemuel A. Babba. The archbishop who arrived from a journey said he decided to come to the choir convention to bring his fatherly blessing to the singers and also encourage them to keep doing the good works they are known for. The Archbishop charged the choir to remain in the fore in their role of worship in the church. Welcoming the Archbishop, the National Chairman of the Organization Mr. Robert Samuel Gortah thanked the Head of the Church for the visit. He announced to the Archbishop that the organization was prepared to dedicate her annual Magazine titled “The Voice of Lutheran Choir” third Edition. Mr. Gortah thanked the Archbishop for his presence and his continues encouragement to the church sub-groups.
During the convention the choir launched the 3rd edition of her Magazine. It was a spectacular moment when the invited guest turned up to the launching. The chairman of the occasion Barr. D. D. Azura charged the choristers to take their work seriously and give themselves and whatever they owned to the glory of God. He told them that he had lived in the blessings of God because he understood the benefit of giving in the house of God and for the works of God.
The climax of the choir programme was their usual songs competitions. This year the choir of LCCN Taraba Diocese came first in the western songs, followed by the Yola and Abuja Dioceses as second and third respectively. The choristers sang great songs of uplifting and adoration to God.
One of the invited resource persons and judge at the competition Mr Ishaku Manassah Ambima from Bauchi State expressed his satisfaction with the performance of the Lutheran Choir, he said what he saw, showed that LCCN has a great choir. “I have been to some places to see how choir perform but I have not seen a matured choir like the one I am seeing in the LCCN. They know what they are doing. I can see how hard they have worked to be able to perform such wonderfully.” He said though despite their outstanding performances there was room for improvement in some key areas such as: coordination, voice production among others. Mr Ambima lauded the Lutheran choir for being able to produce a quality magazine that borders on the development of the spiritual life of both the members and the church at large. He also stated that the special thing about the Lutheran choir is “the promotion of local composition. I want to encourage the choir groups to keep it up. People hear Christ more when it is preached in their local languages. Once the choir is singing in our local language people participate in the worship.”
The chairman of the organization Mr. Robert Gortah told the Lutheran Today that the LCO have continued to improve in various areas every passing year. He expressed his satisfaction with the way the programme was organized and particularly thanked the Guest Speaker Rt. Rev Amos Yakubu for teaching on a wonderful and life changing topic. “the message this year is loud and clear and I am grateful to God that the Bishop gave us a roadmap to live our Christian lives. I want to believe that our choir will be waxing stronger and stronger. I thank God for the people God used in this programme those who donated money, food items, the women that helped in the cooking and all our guests during the launching of our magazine, the committees and the sub-committees God will reward them all.” The choir leader said though the convention was not short of some challenges but they were all sub-mounted. He said his desire for the LCO is to have a vibrant singing organization that will bring glory to God.
The Host choirmaster Mr. Yerima S. Dantata said the outing in the Cathedral was a blessing to his members. “though it was not easy in the midst of organizing and preparing to host a convention we were also practicing to be part of the convention. I am impressed by the performance of the choir of the Cathedral”
